Hi there peps wondering if some one out there might have some experience with migration of databases.

Basicly here at work we need to migrate a anywhere SQL data base of about 200 megs in size over to a MS SQL database.

Now after having a little look around i noticed that there is software out there that will take care of this.

What i'm wondering is if anyone out there has undergone a similar procedure and if so how was it.

I've never done such a thing, but I can imagine that it'll take quite long!

Actually, 200mb is nothing. It shouldn't take long at all.

As long as you match the database structure on both sides, a simple simple odbc connection should do the job for you. If not, you may want to try to do it the longer way which would be to go from MySQL to MS Access (tons of tools out there to do this) and then go from MS Access to MS SQL (Direct upgrade wizard available for this).

Managed to convert the databases with ease with a nice little tool that migrated it all in the end. Now what i'm after however is a tool which will create data entity diagrams representing the DB. Seems that there are a lot of proggys that will go from erd to db but not many the other way around.

Nothing beter than ER-Studio for the job. Will create the diagrams for you and then some. Alco check out some of the other products made by Embarcadero. They make some sweet tools.
