With the mac mini being so inexpensive, i was thinking about getting one. with so much hype, and nothing but good reviews, i might even pull out the old credit card and purchase it. anyone tried the mini yet?

i know i won't be doing much gaming because that's what my consoles are for, i'll probably be doing photoshopping and surfing the web with it.

I guess now is not the time to tell you i don't own a PC and all i use is a mac ;)

Depends on what you are looking at doing... Mac Mini is good for a few things, but my G4 PowerBook is more powerfull then the mini. If you are after serious power then hold back and buy a G5 Desktop or an iMac... Otherwise the MacMini will run your photoshop etc.

My issue with the mac mini is that its got two USB slots- your mouse, and your keyboard.

Its fine if you get a USB base station to go with it

This is considered a major breakthrough since women complain about men

I'm really interested in running OS X. Not so much Apple hardware (even though the dual G5 is impressive) as their software, since it's all UNIX anyway and I'm a UNIX fan.

UNIX with native Photoshop and media support is right down my lane. WINE does good, but doesn't run Photoshop natively.

Ah I forgot to add Darwine. Essentially, you'll be able to run MacOS9 programs, MacOSX programs, Linux and other BSD programs as well as Windows programs on an OS X equipped computer.

wrong. if you buy the mac keyboard like iBarcode did, its like a usb hub in yoru keyboard so you don't loose your usb port. becasue the powerbooks don't ahev many usb port either.,

so far, I've heard nothing but good things about the mini. It should handle photoshop just fine.

A Mac keyboard gives you two usb ports on the keyboard aswell. Other option is get bluetooth built in, then use a bluetooth kb and mouse ;)

I have bluetooth built into my powerbook, however i went the mac kb option as it was cheaper. You could always just use a usb hub
