System doesn't go further than the Wndows screen

Le Papillon Group: Private Member Posts: 1993 Joined: 18-March 04 From: The lowlands Member No.: 12	The last couple of weeks the computer of my son doesn't go any further than the Windows XP screen. He can get into the safe mode. I would have normally thought the puter is too light for Windows XP but it has worked very well for a long time. Any trouble-shooting suggestions? --------------------

The One Deep Down Group: Private Member Posts: 1137 Joined: 12-May 04 From: Masala / Kirkkonummi / Finland Member No.: 101	also, if you enable boot-logging what does it say, and if you watch this list that it can show of stuff it loads at boot-time, what is the last driver it gets up - its too late (1am) and i'm high on drugs (heave painkiller's cuz of my hip-pains) so i cant think better than this at the moment tho.. presumed action that broke up the system might also be enlightening, but i would propably start with installing new display drivers on the safe-mode, or trying these "last working" things from the bootmenu. -------------------- This person is best talked to with the help of a computer..
