The current driver model on the Windows XP is the limitation. One of the key points of Direct X 10 is to be the ability to have more independent objects and the current driver model on Windows XP simply won't be able to deal with it.

The Vole, ATI, Nvidia and the other creators of the Direct X 10 specification wanted to make sure that you will be offered the toppest-notch gaming experience.

I wasn't much surprised to hear this either. I don't have much knowledge on the subject, but wasn't the whole federal anti-trust case against M$ back in the stone age about something very very like to this?

Fuck em, that's all I can say. Fuck em for burdening me with another one of their "new and improved" OS's that is really just 10x more of a resource whore than the last with some more useless features that no one uses or needs. But, of course, to not upgrade is almost suicide since software more and more limits the OS's it runs well on to the point where not upgrading and experiencing problems with newer apps/games becomes your shortcoming.

AND IRONICALLY, it is gamers (who would most utilize the power of DirectX10) who NEED all of their system's power that they can get.... only for it to be squandered by M$'s new facelift.

Meh, sorry if I offended. I've grown very much to dislike M$ despite the fact there is no practical way for me to escape their software besides falling to the Dark Side (aka Apple).... and no, Linux is not a practical alternative for me before anyone says it. :P
