You are not going to believe this, but I had to reactivate my XP operating system because I installed a new printer. This was not supposed to happen. I had to call Microsoft to reactivate. So beware - even slight equipment changes may require reactivation.

Sounds like a good reason to avoid activation like the plague. It's a shitty trend in the software industry right now.
