My autorun feature stopped working so when I inserted a CD rom in the drive the CD never opened up. I was able to trace and confirm that this was caused by the Shell Hardware Detection Process that is started by windows when it boots. When I stopped this process viola autorun works. Obviously there is eithe a file or registry entry that is corrupt. Anyone know how I can correct this so autorun will function with this process operating? The LAST thing I want to do is do a reformat and reinstall.

artzelda,

Thanks for the tip. I'll file this utility away in case I ever need it for my WinXP.
