I'm back! and my trip went great. I have never been to Phoenix or anywhere close (18 hrs. by bus), so when I arrived on Friday morning I could not believe I was there, on a foreign land, all by myself, with no place to go, but I was really excited about the fact that I was going to attend my first Sarah gig. To me, watching Sarah McLachlan live was a dream that I never thought would become reality (like winning the lottery or something), since she has never come to Mexico in her tours.

So after checking in a hotel, getting acquainted to the city of Glendale, AZ and checking out a bus schedule, I was ready to go to the Arena to get my fanclub tickets. I had to get there early, because I had to get rid of one of them. The seats I received were awesome, right in the middle, 5th row. Almost immediately, I started to explain people of my situation, and asked them if they knew someone that could need an extra ticket. Much to my surprise, nobody was interested, cause most of them already had tickets. So what to do with my spare ticket? I certainly didn’t want it as a souvenir, so I decided to give it away. I met this guy that told me he had waited for this concert for ten years, and had his seat in the stands. I like the idea of giving the ticket to someone that appreciates it like I did, so I told him he could have my spare, and ask him if he could give me a ride back to my room after the show, which he happily agreed to.

The concert can be summed up in one word: MINDBLOWING. I have both the FTE Live and the Mirrorball videos, and, as good as they are, I now think they don’t do justice to Sarah.

If I remember correctly, the setlist was as follows:

Fallen
World On Fire
Adia
You Are My Sunshine - Hold On
Perfect Girl
Drifting
Push
I Will Remember You
Ice
Wait
Witness
Elsewhere
Answer
Angel
Fear
Trainwreck
Building A Mystery
Sweet Surrender
Possession
Blackbird
Ice Cream
Stupid
Fumbling Towards Ecstasy
Dirty Little Secret

***SPOILERS***
I stood up the whole concert, there really was not a down moment in the whole set. I was really surprised to see that Sarah did not get a single break in the show. I was expecting some sort of drum or guitar solo for her to rest a little, but on the contrary, she gave the band a break a few times to sing all by herself. I was expecting for Elsewhere to sound like the freedom sessions, but it wasn’t the case, and I liked a lot the fact that she started Possession by herself in the piano, and then changed to the arranged version with the entire band.
***END SPOILERS***

If you had asked me a year ago what were my chances of catching her live, I would have answered less than 1%. Having great tickets secured, gave me the will to do everything in my power to go (my friends called me crazy for going by myself there), which is something I wouldn’t do for any other artist in the world.

I would suggest ANYONE pondering about going to see her, do it. I know I would. She's amazing. I just have to say, seeing her live just blows the cd's away.
