im not 100% sure that this program does EVERYTHING you are after but it does a fair bit, Pinnicale Studio and Maybe Premier? I havent ever done anything to spectacular but Pinnicale had a fair bit to play with from what I can remember.

What kind of price range are you looking at?

Depending on what your budget is, look at the Matrox RT.X10 or X100; both come with Premiere, Audition, and Encore DVD

when it comes to software i realy dont care but when it comes to hardware there i have to have some limits.
But then again like i said this wil upgrade slowly all i need now is to merge inn to the right track.

The Adobe Digital Video Collection includes Premiere, AE, Audition, and Encore. For 1000$ US ... The matrox RT.X10 includes all but Audition for about 699$ and the RT.X100 includes Audition for 1386$ US ... so for 300$ less you get a Video Assist card with software mpeg encoding (for DVD) or for 300$ more you can get hardware mpeg encoding .. a LOT faster ...
Either way ... dont buy the package from Adobe, get a card that comes with it. It's a LOT better deal..

Peace

^ a good call tbh, the matrox cards are the best at the moment (and with the launch of the HD capable cards should be some some time to come!)... if your looking to start small i'd bypass the rt.x100 for the time being and get the cheaper rtx.10. it still comes with premiere pro or 6.5 depending on your retailer which will be a great editing solution for what your doing. the matrox card also comes with a bunch of those "effects" your talking about in real time (ie. a composited heart so you can put the happy couple inside of it etc...).

audition is basically cooledit rebranded so if you can find an old copy of cooledit 2k pro on ebay thats a cheaper option again.

also to keep costs down still further i'd be tempted to push you in the direction of DVDlab:

http://www.mediachance.com/dvdlab/

it'll do everything you'll ever want to do in terms of dvd end products. if you have any spare cash i would purchase either tmpeg or something similar as the hardware encoder isnt really worth the cash for videos shorter than an hour with relitively few effects.

Good luck and let us know how you get on wiz,

Awai.

I use a Matrox Rtx100 at home and really like it, the real time mpeg encoder is a life saver. No more 12+ hour renders. However if you have an AMD system you can forget about using anything by Matrox, there is a hardware conflict that will not let you use any of the new AMD motherboards. I had to replace almost my entire system because of this. IF you have a pentium I would recomend the matrox card, otherwise premier works well by itsself. render times are getting shorter and you can now render mpeg2 in premier with out having to buy a seperate encoder. The adobe video suite is very easy to use and will make your weeddings look very professional.

Oh one more thing. Adobe audition is much better for video than cool edit pro is, so spend the extra money and get audition. In audition you can import video onto your time line and compose the sound track to your film in real time while watching it. I guess its not very usefull if you are just doing weddings but if you have to use non copywrited music or if you are doing foley work it is awesome. I would buy the video suite just for audtion and premier. The dvd program is not so good, its very hard to do certain thing like make and animated sub picture anyways just my 2 cents

hiya Jobefx nice to have you back mate. i'll post a better comment later - but i'm concerned about the amd problems you had - i'm running a full blown edit suite on an gigabyte motherboard with a amd processor on it with the matrox rt.x100 - yep you're not supposed to do it but i've not had a single problem to be honest!

I used to run my rtx100 on a abit nforce2 board and it worked fine most of the time. But I ran into problems when I rendered to disk. It kept giving me an error saying my disk was full even though i had an 250+ gigs free. I also got a similar error durring an important job that called for nesting 5 sequences on an animation and appling a transition and a color filter. The mobo just couldnt handle the bandwidth, matrox says it has something to do with the northbridge. I overclocked the northbridge a little to try to get it to work. I even stuck my gpu watercooler to the northbrige with no luck. I finally gave up caved in and bought a pentium chip mobo and memory so I could finish the project I was working on. If I had to do it over I think I would have bought an avid mojo and kept my Amd system it would have been cheaper. All that aside i still like my rtx100 i just didnt like having to buy a new computer to use it.
If yours works for you awai you are a lucky! oh by the way are you able to render to disk? mpeg2?

^ wow thats some heavy job thst the suite couldnt handle - cant say i've done anywhere near that amount of pressure on my suite - to be honest i open up combustion once the going gets above a couple of layers in premiere i prefer to control the animations, titles etc... in there rather than force prem to do it. the disk error problem is a strange one, not seen a message yet on exporting to a matrox rt avi though - used to have a whole bunch of file size probs on the comp i used at my last job though which was eventually routed down to a shite HD and another that was formatted in FAT32 (a total joke i know!).

I've been a bit unimpressed with the mpeg2 stuff i've exported from premiere in the past so i've not tried the rt.x100 realtime export yet as i've continued to just export the avi and then let procoder or CCE do its magic - before dumping the project into dvdlab to create the dvd.

shall give it a bit of a beating at the weekend if the gf decides not to visit and report back.

/back on topic though - hope this has helped you wiz? have you any more q's?

Awai.

Nobody has mentioned SONY Vegas. This is a great program. Version 5 is coming out with great features. This program beats premiere all the way down.

mmmb thats a whole can of worms there kingato - i'd beg to differ but havent used vegas enough to argue the merits of one against the other. premeiere pro in my eyes is as good if not better than avid DV which is quite a claim i know. will try vegas a bit and report back a few thoughts...

Opps, I should have said that beats premiere 6.5 and earlier versions. I haven't use Premiere Pro Yet. Vegas in my opinion its like premiere but with After effetcs features on it. Also, since it came from Sonic Foundry, the audio features are much better than Premiere

Im not a huge fan of Premier. I usually use AE, maya and Match Mover for my CG implimentation. The use Ulead media studio to combine cutscenes and add the final score.
