Just went to go see this on Saturday. Then I started reading numerous critic reviews (note the poor order of events here). The critics are generally calling in mediocre-bad. I personally found it to be quite good. Some critics claim it was special effect-heavy... and Lord of the Rings wasn't?... I thought the Special effects\CGI animation was pretty damn good. I think Hugh Jackman was the perfect man for the role. It was one of those rare movies where you're never think for a moment "What the hell is going on?" (as in with some moments in the Matrix and Lord of the Rings... along with most other movies). The plot was pretty straight forward and there was action at every turn. I'd definately reccomend it to anyone who enjoys a good action movie. I noticed that a lot of people were misguided and led to believe it was either a horror film or an ultraviolent gore-fest. I really didn't find it at all gorey (very little actually)... and there's no real suspense factor for it to be considered a horror of sorts.

Anyone else caught this on the big screen yet? Comments? Thoughts?

I hated it. I was expecting campy, silly, no-brain monster schlock, and while i got it, it was a lot dumber than even I'd anticipated. It just rubbed me the wrong way at pretty much every turn. Maybe I'm getting old. :)

I'll see it again to check out whether i was just in a bad mood and didn't know it, but I doubt at this point it'll end up on my favorites list no matter what.

I'm indifferent. It was great the first hour - then the second hour was the same as the first. Good action, just repetative.

I enjoyed this movie, though I did notice it seemed like they tried to take somethings from other movies.... I mean, Dracula's Henchmen??? EWOKS!! HELLO!

well it reminded me of them.
