I have been lurking around but this is my first post in about 2 weeks! - guess nothing caught my eye? - Overall, I don't know about the board as a whole but it does seem a bit quiet

It is a bit more quiet.

My reason is that I'm working on the front page of nFm. I'm creating the content and also I'm making an admin system around it. The design is already finished.

How about the rest of you?

Yeah, i've been working, schooling, working on websites, etc. etc. But I still check the forums everyday. And like Wiener3 has said, nothing has been catching my eye.

I don't think it's really any quieter than it has been for awhile. Yeah, I think it was a lot more alive before the crash and the coming of the temp. boards, but that was quite awhile ago. Personally, I would prefer a little more discussion going on than there is now but it's really just fine as it is.

I post all the time just to keep the topics rolling and offer my opinion\advice.

well.. I'm active now but.. in 9 days my servitude in army will begin and I prolly wont have that much time to do anythin.. I guess that will make this place a bit more quiet :(
usually I browse all new topics every now and then, depending of what I have to do.. been quite busy with the school (from 10am to 5pm) but it has only slowed me down a bit during that time :)

I pass by every ounce in a while (I see I go demoted lol) but this place has lost alot of the members that made this so place so special. Perhaps it's just people have to move on, perhaps it was the new rules that started popping up that i sorta noticed, but yeah, I never really post anymore, but I still look at the posts that are interesting.

Sure do hope things start to speed up agian perhaps.

I post when I have something to say or am interested enough in the topic to reply ...
As a mod on another forum, I try to resist posting stuff like "Yeah cool" or "me too" here because that sort of thing annoys me over on that forum.

Before I start, I have never administered a forum but I imagine it to be a lot of hard, unselfish, often thankless work. The criticism I make does not go without the recognition of that.

From what I infer from the rules and policies, the forum aims to maintain a small tight group of active participants, weeding out inactive ones. I agree with the noble intent of this but in my opinion, it has evolved into something somewhat elitist. To put it in its proper perspective, I am admittedly biased . . . something akin to a mildly disgruntled employee but instead a returning but demoted member from the onset of the latest reincarnation of the board. Even given that admission of bias, I wonder if a quiet board is a consequence of the success of these policies?

I suppose it is by (unintentional?) design but the current structure is not as attractive to new (or returning) active membership as before. Of course, I mean this in relative terms and it is not meant to say there is nothing attractive about the board as it is now but as people move on, I wonder if they will be replaced at the same rate? Perhaps that is of no concern.

I suppose the dissident nature of this post may result in something between its deletion and an admonishment to an outright ban of my IP (my potential farewell). That would be telling in itself. In contrast, BilbleBasher and Krip used to have outright brawls within the forum that went uncensored and unpunished to a large extent for the benefit of us all.

You're allowed to your opinion. We try not to run a dicatorship. The peeps that post here are the reward of all the work that every member of this community puts in. Banning only happens when you get abusive. We've had our differences, but you've proven to be a good member.

The policies and rules that stand right now are strict, but are needed to protect the community (as you might know as an Alpha Member).
