Well, I plan on installing Linux.. Ive done it before and know the general processes. I just need a program that would let me keep my Windows XP NTFS Partition aroun (but shrink it) and have me set up my Linux partition. Any pointers to what to look for (bearing in mind im broke)?

Yup .. Did someone mention Partition Magic?? The are 2 ways you can get this to work .. Use PM to create a EXT partition or shrink up an existing partition and leave space as unallocated .. Most installs will find and use the unallocated space (This is what I usually do)

Now that leaves for the more inventive question of where to get partition magic... i dont suppose it has a trial does it?

I believe Partition Magic does offer a demo version, but it doesn't allow you to do any partitioning wtih it. So it's really only any good if you want to look at its UI. A complementary product I found called Ranish Partition Manager is free ware and should do everything you need it to. (make sure you read the FAQ / readme's before doing anything though!)

A short blurb on Ranish Partition Manager:
QUOTE
Ranish Partition Manager is a powerful hard disk partitioning tool.
It gives users high level of control for running multiple operating systems,
such as Linux, Windows 98/XP, FreeDOS, and FreeBSD on a single disk.

Partition Manager can create, copy, and resize primary and extended partitions.
It includes command line interface and simulation mode that works with large files
so you can safely experiment before working on the real hard drive partition tables.

The readme says it can work with NT partitions, I'd just make sure you've checked all the documentation to make sure it can do what you want it to do. Also there seems to be an active community working on it / supporting it / building howto's so yeah, it sounds like it could work well for you.

Hope this gets you on the way!

BTW, also try XOSL Boot Loader to load b/n different OS's. it seems to be user-friendly enough.

Cheers.

I need the same thing but something that runs on Windows 2003 Server..
Preferably something simplistic that is easy to use :S..

EDIT: Dont stress, It was a recent install, so I just wiped it and repartitioned it from scratch.
