You would have to convert the AVI stream to a compliant MPEG or MPEG2 stream for iether VCD or SVCD. While Multii-surrond SVCD are possible, it is not necessary nor easy to do. (i have tried numerous times but i got sick of trying to synchronize the video with auido.

You can go to: www.vcdhelp.com for LOTS of conversion/burning tutorials..

Essentially what you would do is:

Get a AC3 compatible version of Virtuadub.. then load up the AVI
then separate the Audio from the video, have it decoded to WAV (bigger filesize OH YEAY!)
then you should be able to convert the AVI to MPEG with MpegENc
YOu will need PLENTY of HD space for it. You may want to just do one part at a time of the AVI.. cause when i DID Xmen2 and the MATRIX2, the FIRST AVI (800mb) was going to be 2 full CDs after Mpeg2 Conversion.
When you have the now HUGE MPEG you multiplex it with the Audio via MPEGEnc, and you can tell it to split the file at certain sizes.

You would have to do that for both.. and buern in SVCD format with NEro.

Now that is just an outline, but there is a complete guide at www.vcdhelp.com

Right Here:

You could try procoder which will convert it to vcd formt.
Sometimes though it hase problems with xvid divx format but if it works it takes a lot of guess work for you to encode.

I thought nero would convert avi to mpg automatically when creating a vcd? Also keep in mind that a lot of video editing programs will also open any avi (aslong as you have the codec on your system) and convert it to an mpg.
