I've just installed win xp in my old box and whenever i start my computer msn is active, which is ok. But when i try to shut it down it says it's being used by one of the other applications eg. win explorer, outlook express etc. I've got no app running which uses msn so why do i get this message? Signing off is no option cause if i open outlook express it imports the whole address book which my sis has got in msn.

MSN intergrates with explorer.exe (windows explorer) too .. you would have to kill it then turn MSN off via command line .. (not easy) or you could just go into MSN and tell it to NOT start with windows ... then re-boot. This is what I did because I ddin't want MSN and Windows messenger both running.

peace

I configured MSN not to start with Windows as you said. I then signed into it (coz whenever sobody does that msn restarts Win). After rebooting the bl**dy thing started again. But i can now turn it off. i can live with that. thaks Judson.
