alright, i got into this whole shit that i got towed in a private area. i need help on this one because i don't think i am at fault on it. it seems like i got towed also along with this other guys vehicle while coming back from seeing the fireworks. when coming back i see that my car is gone, i found out who towed it by asking around. no note no nothing saying where my car is. the dude was a total jerk and asked us for 80 bucks in advance before we can see our cars. we said no and i called the police. police came and he gave me some shit that it was private property and it doesn't need a sign posted...yet when i got there there was a sign posted but it was not visible to the eye so well. it was covered behind trees. so if private property doesnt need postings why was there one? also, they're many cars there when i came back to see my car missing. now im saying that you don't put your finger in a monkies cage but people will do it if theres no postings, now is that right? i don't think so. so i need help on this one. i want to take it to court because i find it bullshit that when i did started dialing for the cops the guy drove off and left us waiting for the cop who showed up about 1 hour after. i don't want to drop it because everyone says i'm wrong, when infact i believe i am not because this is bullshit. can you guys help out? i can explain more if need be.

sorry dude, that sucks....
I'm guessing you're outta luck, but my best advice would be to check with legal aid or someone closer to home. Parking bylaws and the like are kind of localized with different jurisdictions handling things differently.
Good luck with it.

Unfortunatly, the police officer is correct - private property is private property and the owner has no obligation to post anything about cars being towed. Those that due are posting as a courtesy. So when a property owner calls a towing company, you're obligated to pay their costs.
If you can prove there were other cars there - viable proof like pictures of other cars by yours that night or affidavits from people who parked there without being towed you might have a chance in court. But it would be a slim chance since the property owner could counter that he was in the process of having those other cars towed as well.
