Summary:
The arrival of a new generation of DVD burners from Pioneer usually heralds new upgrades across the feature spectrum, and the vendor's DVR-A08XLA DVR-108 is no different. With speeds of 16x for writing and 4x for re-writing, dual-layer 4x speeds for 2.4 media also represent a pleasant surprise.

At last DVD write speeds are beginning to be reasonably acceptable! All we need do now is wait, and wait, and wait for the release of the appropriate high-speed media.
According to THG though, most single layer 8x media can be burned at 12x on this drive. Nice!

Your right about the waiting part. Itll be a while before I invest in this technology but it does seem to be making progress quickly.

'Gotta agree, Sproutme ... with Pioneer 16x single-layer drives available for less that $100 and media readily (and economically) available, this is a great time for an interim upgrade.

Pioneer is always a good buy. Will be investing in one soon. What next?
