well guys, i'm in need of an external dvd burner for my laptop. highest i can go is $150 USD.

Here's what I did: bought the Sony DRU710A for 149.99 with a $30 rebate. Then I bought an external aluminum case for the drive, which cost me $35 on ebay.

The case is still in the mail, but I can tell you that the drive is sweet. smile.gif

I've been using Sony external drives forever now. Never had a problem with them.

Thats a good idea dude!! They even have the case for 1394 connection! Tnx for the tip.
