Just purchased "The Village" and with all my DVD collection I wanted to back the up. Whe putting my HP dvd writer 200i It can not be recoginized by my drive. This can't be! Will not work on anything but my home player. This is very disturbing, any one have any thoughts or direction for me.

by home player i assume you mean the set top dvd player connected to your tv?!

i'd say that its probably not a case of the DVD either having copy protection on it but instead its likely that either the disk is dud and needs returning for replacement or the DVD has been badly mastered - a few slip through the loop even with the "big boys"...

also check what the region encoding on the disk is by looking at the box - if your using a pal/ntsc disk in a non multi-region dvd writer then it'll be unable to/reject reading any disk thats outside of its region coding.

Awai.
