Full Version: HDD password?
Is there a way to lock a partition with a password? So when i try to open ehm ... "D:" it asks for a password? But need to work even after a reinstall of my OS.
There are third party tools that can do this for you. won't work after re-install though, unless you are ghosting and restoring from the image.

You can tell it to STORE the files in the archive rather than trying to compress them. That way it takes very little time.

Yup, WinRAR has the store option. It's in the list of the compression ratio dropdown.
HDD locking, this can be done on a HD just like the xbox HD's, disk has to support locking though and from what i have played around with locking I don't think you can do it specific to a partition, it will apply to the whole drive.
As everyone has said though archiveing is your best bet, unless you have a backup media which can be encrypted/passworded.

you might also want to take a look at "Drive Crypt Plus Pack" - its what I used to crypt my HD's to be safe (tho it took forever to crypt all my HD's, 0.5Tb
