Well, Im looking to upgrade my system. Ive upgraded RAM, DVD, and video, processor is the last thing (Currently im running an Athlon 1700+ thats 1.47 ghz. I had it overclocked but recently ive been having problems with the overclock so ive stopped)

ANYWAY, heres my motherboard.

Socket A standard fare, but im worried about the fronside bus speed (mainly as I have no idea what it is). It reads there much slower than my target upgrade:

Would I be able to run that without issue, or should I just throw down another 200 bucks for a new mobo?

Both those links are for an XP3000+ processor .... what motherboard do you have?

If you do have to go for a new motherboard, have a look at the ASUS A7V880. Supports up to 400Mhz FSB, SATA onboard, RAID, 8 USB's, 8x AGP slot, Gigabit LAN etc. That particular board is only AUD$100 .

I'd replace the mobo and the CPU, won't cost a whole lot, and will postpone future upgrades.

Go with the AMD Athlon 64 3800+ Venice core and choose a mobo with it.

Im getting a deal cut on an Ath64 FX-53
