I think you'll like the 64bit Intels with HT over the 64bit AMD - I used to be an AMD man until I installed this new beastie - wooooooohoooooo.....It's got some go juice to say the least. And why go AGP??? PCI-X is the way to go - such a huge difference.
Boss429
I am unsure if it is AGP or PCIX that card.. cuase the title for the site says AGP but all other site info points to PCIX.

I also wasnt really considering Dual Core. I know it is probably the new fad.. but i have to cut costs some how.

Awesome case!

What is this rig for?....gaming, audio/video, 3D workstation... You're getting a silent case that's outrageously priced so you could cut costs there...unless the rig is for audio work then the quieter the better. But if the rig were for audio, the AMD64 is pointless - no audio app can utilize it. A hyperthreading CPU would be much more cost effective and can be utilized by most audio apps (save for GigaStudio).
Boss429
your right the case is a little expensive but im not paying. it is a gift.

It will probably be for games.. some photoshop editing. I dont know enough about audio editing to do a whole lot anyways. the only thing

Awesome case!

*agrees*

As for AGP vs PCI-E... I would just say PCI-E as it seems to be what will be used more and more on future cards. Therefore, you have potentially more room later on to upgrade if you see fit.

As for Intel vs AMD... meh, if money is no object Intel works. AMD is just the poor man's (me) way out.
DutchKid
I'd say PCI as well. And for the CPU, i'd go with an AMD, it clocks better with games than a way more expensive Intel.

PS: AMD is kicking Intels newest CPU's ass!

AMD is kicking Intels newest CPU's ass!

Not in audio/video or other rendering intensive applications.

Just installed this in our new HD and motion graphics rendering suite: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16819116214

It was put up head-to-head with this AMD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16819103558

The Intel kicked @$$ over the AMD and was $100 cheaper. Across the board, Intel is winning the cost war and preformance war - at least with rendering applications. And you should see HL2 on this thing, it's crazy!
DutchKid
I was talking about the Pentium D and the AMD X2.
Sn_ake
Thats a single core CPU that your comparing the dual core Intel against, and if I rember correctly the A64 4800 X2 comes in cheaper than the intel extream dual core.
DutchKid
Hmm, I thought that I read somewhere that the X2 and the D are both dual core...
