Adobe have launched Premiere Pro v2.0 and by god its a nice upgrade... in fact ugrades can be made from 6.5, pro v1.0 or pro v1.5 for the crazy low price of £169 ex. vat (£198.58 inc.) in the UK with similar dollar etc amounts payable outside of the UK.
top new features are:
1. DVD authoring from the timeline
The feature we've ALL been waiting for! Create high-quality, menu-driven DVDs directly from the Adobe Premiere Pro timeline. Make full-resolution, interactive DVDs for digital dailies, test discs, or final delivery. While this doesn't have all the control and functionality of Encore, it's easy to use and offers a lot more (and easier) customisation than the integrated authoring functions in some editing applications.
2. Integrated Multicam editing
Edit multiple-camera shoots quickly and easily, with no need for 3rd party plug-ins. View multiple video tracks from a multicam shoot, and edit by switching between tracks in real time. Easily sync clips based on source timecode, even if you don't have timecode sync on your cameras you can still synchronize using manual markers in conjuction with a clapperboard or other visual/audible indication (such as a simple flash gun).
3. Accelerated client review and approval
This might not sound earth shattering but we've tried it and it works brilliantly! You can embed video into a PDF file then e-mail or post a disc with the file to your client to review. The client can open the file in the standard Acrobat Reader, they can view the video (this supports PC or Mac - you can embed Windows Media or Quicktime files) and then they can enter timecode-specific comments. Once they've done this they can quickly and easily export a small file containing the comments which they can e-mail back to you. You can import this file straight into Premiere Pro 2 and then view the comments which are automatically mapped as markers on the timeline. If you're a corporate videographer, the time and headaches that this feature saves will be worth the upgrade price alone!
