Hey lads,

I am wokring on fixing a computer its a dell, and well I am going to back up all the data i can, first now that i can access windows again, but the problem is therein.

One of the accounts, i am guessing is am administrator account which at first was telling me that I cant access it because of account restricitions, but now it just says unable to access it.

This is and has always been XP home. What are some methods that I can get to the Data? It is the User DIR in the documents and settings.

thnx

I presume its okay to say that you need to take ownership of those folders - I ran into this problem on my own too. to do this you need to be running administrator account. I dont remember if running an account with administrator rights was enough of not, but anyway.. after doing that it should be okay.

You need to boot to safemode (F8 at startup - select SafeMode). Log in as the Administrator - not just an account with admin privleges. That should give you access to all accounts for backup.
