God you would think that they have enough to do that they don't have to force their lifestyle on the rest of us. Let them live together and do anything they want, but Marriage -no. Only between the opposite sexes. I guess I am for gay marriage - a lesbian can marry a gay guy. There is a combination for you.

Nobody wants to stop homosexuals from having sex with anyone who wishes to have sex with them. That is not the issue. This issue is marriage. They have all the benefits that married people except for those that accrue due to a legal marriage. Much like single people have all the benefits except those that accrue do to marriage. One of the problems with extending those benefits to homosexuals is how do you prevent abuse by people claiming to be married but in reality are not. Agreed this could occur with heterosexuals but the likelihood and the extent is much less. Very few people get married for financial reasons - some do but the majority do not.
Do you believe there is more than one god - multiple dieties? Well you are correct in the statement that I am a monotheist. But if you know of a modern practiced polytheistic theology that accepts homosexual marriage I am willing to be educated. The statement I made about siblings marrying was only to prove the government has a right to and does regulate marriage. It has nothing to do with procreation. The belief marriage is for procreation is a religious belief and an overwhelming number of people religious and non-religious share that belief. There are a limited number of individuals who go into marriage not wishing to have children but this exception only serves to prove the overwhelming judgement of many people that children are a desired product of marriage and not the other way around. The beauty behind the US is that people are free to exercize their bigotry for all to see and to be recognized for what it is. Free speech is the right to speak bigotry and it can not be legally prevented. However even bigoted people can not violate the LEGAL rights of other people in the exercise their bigotry. Moral judgements are left to each individual, not the government. The government can only deal in legality. Ones moral judgements can not be imposed on others. One can not say the right to homosexual marriage is a moral issue and this morality can be imposed on those who believe it is immoral. You are correct the US Declaration of Independence does not apply to other nations. In my view that is unfortunate because of the brilliance of the document and the guiding principles it states that has made the US a great country- one which millions of people would love to immigrate to and in fact do - legally and illegally. In spite of all our faults, we recognize them, openly discuss them for the world to see and peacefully resolve them in a generally democratic fashion. It is also one of two documents that have made the US the most powerful nation on earth and has restricted the use of this power. Imagine what impact the US could have on the world if these documents and the force of their guiding principles did not have the influence they have on the restricting the power of government. The purpose of these documents was to restrict the power of government and maximize the power of individuals - and they has done a great job achieving this.
