I just installed 2 OS's on 2 differnt partitions on my comp.
The default OS that boots is not what i want to be... how can i change this, and is there anyway to fully customize my boot screen? (such as os names at the boot menu) |

Boot.ini - located in your root directory - holds the answers
Mine for example is as follows: [boot loader] timeout=20 default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(4)\WINXP [operating systems] multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(4)\WINXP="Microsoft Windows XP Professional F Drive" /fastdetect multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional C Drive" /fastdetect Where timeout equals the time that the menu is displayed before booting your default operating system. This can either be edited directly via notepad or changed using a bit of software such as TweakUI. Note that the file is generally hidden and read only (as it is a System File), so your attributes would need to be changed before you can see and edit it manually. The sections I have made bold represent what each item is listed as on the boot menu :) This post has been edited by Messenger: Jun 26 2004, 09:48 PM |
